This guy works about two blocks from my studio. He's always working Wednesday through Friday at the door of a hotel called The Carlton. The only guy who nods and smiles at people who aren't even guests at the hotel. I saw him off duty in regular clothes today- he looked totally different.
I wish everyone could be as happy as this guy. I call him Mortie the Diner Guy.He came in to the diner at 10pm, sat down in his favourite seat and had exact money ready for his order.
The owner came by to say hello. Five minutes later he brought him his usual order of black coffee and a pancake. Mortie handed the server the exact money -the smile on his face couldn’t have been bigger. It looked like it was his favourite part of the day. The thing he looks forward to from the moment he wakes up that morning.
I was laughing 'til I realised I'm staring right at future-me. I give it
ten five years before I look like Mortie.

This guy came in and sat at the counter for three hours just sniffing the whole time. At one stage I thought his head was going to implode. Anyway, I'm pretty sure he stores all the stuff he sniffs in his calf muscles.
