This weekend I had a lot of fun doing the poster for Mike Verdi's new "Lone Bird Comedy Show" over at Parkside Lounge. Parkside is a great dive with a huge back room that's been hosting some of the best comedy, music and poetry in New York for the last few years. I walked over and took a few photos to get the reference to make sure the poster was localised to the venue. I like the old neon lighting on it. At night, the sign looks great, but the R in the word "BAR" is dead, so it just looks like some place Ebenezer Scrooge might hang out.
This is what it used to look like:
I did the poster for Mike's old show "Two Birds, One Stoned" at Lovecraft Bar earlier in the year, too. The birds are modeled on the 3 guys running it.
The show he books is great, and the show is always awesome. Take a look at his next lineup on Facebook. I also threw in a logo for this one so the Facebook page had consistent branding. Something to consider if you're interested in commissioning some artwork for your local show.
