Context: So little Johnny has gone to Washington to say hello to his ol' friend George Bush once again. Surely he has better things to do. Nonetheless, a story by Sydney journalist Piers Akerman made mention of a tip that John Howard would be resigning as Prime Minister in December this year after 10 years, finally letting Peter Costello take the reigns. This would make Howards trip appear to be a final "farewell and good luck" to his old McMate. It looks like the era of the troublesome three will soon be over, with British PM Tony Blaire signalling his retirement for later in the year, and Bush admitting that Howard will probably be in government longer than him.
What's with the John Farnham reference? Well, John Farnham was popularly criticised for doing a 'farewell tour' called "The Last Time".. right before he did another two tours..
