Context : Alan Carpenter has officially been signed in as Western Australia's 28th Premier. This came after some
brief competition from police minister Michelle Roberts and attourney general Jim McGinty. Carpenter has a bit of
a reputation as a grumpy bugger - a bit of a headkicker and somewhat of a rogue manner. Much like what fellow ALPer Mark
Latham
was like before he became leader of the Opposition in the ALP. (You might remember him calling fellow
parliamentarians, including the Prime Minister John Howard, an "Arse-Licker" and broke a cabbie's arm in an altercation.)
Latham has laid relatively low media-wise since his resignation from politics and the subsequent release of his expository
book, "The Latham Diaries". But alas, he has made the front page again, due, of course, to his old antics.
He allegedly spotted a photographer outside a local Hungry Jacks taking snaps of he and his children eating dinner.
Mark leapt up, stormed outside yelling and swearing at the photographer, before grabbing his camera and smashing it to
pieces on the gravel before him. The photographer was from the Daily Telegraph,
and yes, they are asking Latham to replace the broken camera...
