Context
:
In a bizarre incident, AFL Umpire Michael Avon asked the offending player,
Essendon's Ty Zantuck, if he wanted another kick for goal – not Fremantle's
Matthew Carr, who had been felled.
Zantuck had tackled Carr just after his kick had gone through for a point. While
a free kick was paid, instead of
Carr being offered the option of another kick, Avon asked Zantuck if the score
should stand. Naturally, a bemused
Zantuck agreed, while Carr was left to argue the point to no avail. The first-quarter
incident left the Dockers
trailing by 10 points, 1.4 to 3.2.
